Oproma Cosmetics' Journey: From Lowly Beginnings to Industry Leader

Every amazing story starts somewhere. In 2012, Oproma Cosmetics PVT LTD embarked on a journey to change hair and skin care practices in Sri Lanka. Oproma started as a simple business but has since expanded to become a brand known regionally for our commitment to excellence, creativity and community development.

Early on:

Oproma Cosmetics PVT LTD was founded in 2012 by Mr. Pradeep Mapalagama, who has over 20 years of experience in the marketing, distribution, and manufacturing of skincare and haircare products, and Mrs. Ishani Guneratne, who has over 20 years of experience in the beauty industry and is committed to creating cutting-edge skincare and haircare products. Less than ten individuals worked for Oproma at first, putting in a range of efforts to build the brand in a competitive business. The organization's goal was quite apparent from the start: to provide clients with modern, effective skin care products.

Headships:

The dedicated management group at Oproma Cosmetics is the principal element within the organisation's fulfillment. Our directors, who have played a key position in guiding the organization's boom and innovation, their information and determination have been helpful to our increase from a small company to a major participant in the market.

We achieved a significant breakthrough in 2018 when we developed our factory in Weliweriya. This development allowed for the completion of three stages by 2022, which marked the beginning of a new era for Oproma Pharmaceutical and Oproma Cosmetics. Our state-of-the-art plant is now GMP and ISO 9001:2015 licensed, and it employs over forty skilled individuals who share our vision.

Product Innovation:

Oproma Cosmetics has consistently placed a strong focus on this area. We are 1/3-party manufacturing specialists, creating a vast array of skincare and haircare products for leading Sri Lankan companies. Because we are committed to research and development, we are able to manufacture products that truly meet the needs and wants of our clients.

Personal Growth:

Joining Oproma Cosmetics in 2020, shortly after graduating from the University of Peradeniya, has been a transforming experience for me. The assistance and encouragement that I received here inspired me to pursue a Master's degree in Business Studies at the University of Kelaniya. My time at Oproma has been quite scholarly, with new opportunities and studies that have greatly contributed to my personal and professional growth.

Among the noteworthy accomplishments;

• The Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year award from 2012.
• 2013: Received the Best Entrepreneur of the Year award.
• The year 2018 saw our Weliweriya facility expand.
• 2019 rose to become one of the biggest exporters of hand sanitizers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
• 2022: We completed the three-story addition, which marked a significant advancement for our business.
• 2024: By entering into a third-party manufacturing deal with Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd, the seventh-largest pharmaceutical firm in Asia, we have strengthened our position in the market.

Thanks to our inventiveness and strong will to succeed, we are able to move forward as we explore new markets and opportunities.
